European People's Party: Šuica in Warsaw - Bilaver in Bucharest

 Women's Entrepreneurship

˝In this tough financial situation with which the EU is faced, women are willing to take on responsibility and to successfully cope with the challenges in the economy,˝ said Dubravka Šuica in Warsaw at the Congress of Women of the European People 's Party (EPP), the largest group in the European Parliament with 275 representatives from 27 member states.

At the congress, entitled ˝Women and Entrepreneurship˝, politicians from the Christian-Democratic options (centre right) discussed economic issues with leading scientists and entrepreneurs from different sectors.

˝Although women make up 45.5 % of the working population, only a 32.8% are in leadership positions even though studies have shown that the proportion of women has a direct positive impact on business performance. In this crisis, it would be unreasonable to not take advantage of this potential,˝ concluded Šuica, who is not only a MEP and Vice President of the HDZ (Croatian Democratic Union), but she is also Vice President of EPP Women.

HDZ youth and CDU-a/CSU-a together against all totalitarianism

President of HDZ Youth Josip Bilaver is in Bucharest at the Summit on Youth Employment and YEPP (Youth EPP), the youth offspring of the European People's Party. Already on the first day of the Summit, he met with Benedict Pöttering and Benedict Dittmann - representatives of the Junge Union (Young Union), the joint youth organisation of the CDU and CSU.

In addition to the strengthening of partnership and friendship and the problem of youth employment, at the meeting they discussed the lethal legacy of communism in Croatia. Pöttering, who is also Vice President of YEPP, supported the call of HDZ Youth to change the name of Marshal Tito Square in Zagreb. This is because civilized Europe has long since renounced all totalitarianism. However, while the entire cultured world sees the heritage of antitotalitarizam as a system of values, the most beautiful square in Zagreb is still ˝decorated˝ with the name of one of the ten biggest communist criminals in history.

˝The Christian-Democratic, populist option guarantees the EU and its member states stability and progress, and a future for young people. The HDZ, CDU and CSU are part of the same big family, which will continue to insist on strengthening an equitable, social and anti-totalitarian, therefore, anti-fascist and anti-communist Europe˝ said Bilaver.
