Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, a candidate in the upcoming presidential election in Croatia, was the main speaker at a congress organized by EPP Women (EPPW). She underlined that “the time has come for her to push through another ceiling and to become the first woman President of the Republic of Croatia”.
The congress entitled “Foreign relations policies”, organized by the EPPW and the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, was held at the Esplanade hotel in Croatia. The hosts of this event, the head of the Croatian EPP/HDZ delegation in the European Parliament, Dubravka Šuica, and the head of EPP Women, Doris Pack, opened the congress which brought together some of the leading women from the European Parliament, national parliaments from all of Europe, and beyond.
“We have gathered here for your cause and we want you to be the next President of the Republic of Croatia”, said Doris Pack to Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović.
The vice-president of EPP Women, Dubravka Šuica, added: “Thank you for coming today and supporting Kolinda. I am sure that she is the right person at the right place, and taking into account the competences of the office of the President in Croatia, I am sure that she is the best candidate”.
After the introductory speeches, Doris Pack moderated an interesting panel on the subject of EU foreign relations. Angelina Eichhorst, the ambassador of the European Union to Lebanon, Sandra Kalniete, the vice-president of the EPP in the European Parliament and Michael Gahler, the vice-president of the Subcommittee on Security and Defence in the European parliament participated in a panel discussion.
Many Members of European Parliament also took part in the conference, including Ivana Maletić and Andrej Plenković from Croatia.
