In Dubrovnik, Dubravka Šuica, member of European Parliament, met with member of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts Nenad Vekarić, Deputy Mayor of the City of Dubrovnik. They talked about important topics in science and culture, and agreed on potential activities related to the candidacy of Dubrovnik for the prestigious title of 2020 European Capital of Culture.

They also discussed the renewal of Dubrovnik’s summer residences, financing options for their reconstruction using funds from the European Union, and the strengthening of humanities studies in Dubrovnik, as well as better and more effective international networking of these studies.
