The final celebration of the Eucharist for the 300th anniversary of Dubrovnik's baroque cathedral was held on Sunday, October 13th and was led by Archbishop Cardinal Vinko Puljić.

The Dubrovnik Cathedral was built from the 1673 to 1713 on the foundation of the cathedral dating from the 12th century, which was destroyed in an earthquake in 1667. The renovation of the cathedral was spurred by the impetus of a distinguished scholar and diplomat from Dubrovnik, Stjepan Gradić.

˝The Dubrovnik Cathedral has survived a variety of troubles, three wars, earthquakes, fires, and the faithful gathered around it today show that it is a symbol of Christian identity˝, Cardinal Puljić said in his homily. The celebration was attended by the Mayor of Dubrovnik Andro Vlahušić, Dubrovnik-Neretva County Prefect Nikola Dobroslavić, Member of European Parliament Dubravka Šuica, and many representatives of the social and political life of the city.

The Eucharistic celebration was followed by a procession through the streets of Dubrovnik, at the head of which was the image of Our Lady of the Harbour. The image was restored last year and for the first time this century, it was carried through the city on this route. The celebration ended with the singing Te Deum and Ljepa naša in front of the three centuries-old Dubrovnik Cathedral.
