Croatia has announced the tender for the European Capital of Culture in 2020 that all municipalities and cities of Croatia will be able to participate in. Along a Croatian town, in 2020 Ireland will have a city that will also adorn the title European Capital of Culture.

˝Since the town will run for the coveted title, European Capital of Culture 2020, it was important for me today to participate in the presentation of the ˝European Capital of Culture Riga 2014˝ because the experience of our friends from Latvia will be valuable for the nomination and selection process of the European Capital of Culture 2020,˝ said Šuica.

Today in the European Parliament Inese Vaidere, Member of European Parliament from Latvia and the EPP Group organized an exhibition titled ˝Riga European Capital of Culture 2014˝ which was also attended by Member of European Parliament Dubravka Šuica. The exhibition presented a detailed schedule of cultural events to be held during 2014 in Riga and how throughout that year the rich cultural heritage of Riga and all Latvia will be shown. Along with Riga, in 2014 the European Capital of Culture will be Umea, a city in eastern Sweden.
