Head of the Croatian Delegation of the European People's Party (EPP) in the European Parliament Dubravka Šuica, together with MEPs Ivana Maletić, Andrej Plenković and Davor Ivo Stier, visited the Croatian war veterans who have been protesting for two months in front of the Ministry of Veterans at 66 Savska street.
Veterans have decorated a Christmas tree and have announced that they will welcome Christmas and the New Year in their tent and they called on the public to support them by visiting during the holidays. It is worth noting that the HDZ MEPs supported the adoption of the Constitutional Law on the Rights of Croatian war veterans and thus they remineded everyone of the importance of the EP resolution on Serbia and the accused war criminal Šešelj.
Also, the MEPs stressed that Croatian membership in the EU does not mean a reduction of veterans' rights. After last year's visit to the European Parliament in Strasbourg, last week, MEP Šuica hosted the leadership of HVIDR (Association of Croatian War Veterans) and two veterans of the 4th Guards Brigade and the European Parliament in Brussels.
