Today, Member of European Parliament Dubravka Šuica spoke at the plenary session on the topic of gendercide, a critical problem that is spread throughout the world.
Suica has pointed out that the report on gendercide is very important report because selective abortions are unacceptable and should be banned. 17 million girls aged 1-15 years are killed only in India.
˝Here we have a serious violation of human rights and a crime and this is why the existing legislation on gender equality needs to be closely monitored and implemented,˝ said Šuica.
This is a global issue that applies to all continents including Europe. The main problem is that this phenomenon is deeply rooted in some traditional families because cultural and economic reasons create the perception that only male children can provide support for the family.
˝Typical figures are that 106 males are born compared 102 females, but it is worrying that in China this figure is 113 males to 100 females and the situation is similar in India. I think that this fact speaks for itself and I expect a discussion on this topic,˝ concluded Šuica.
