Member of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety of the European Parliaments, Dubravka Šuica, participated in a discussion at the plenary session in Strasbourg on fishing and responsibilities of individual countries in the Mediterranean during which she took the opportunity to reflect on the situation in the Adriatic.

In countries that are developing primary sector activities, particularly fishing, there is a strong impact on the economy and employment.

˝Unsustainable fishing and over-fishing is not acceptable; we have to manage the sea and coastline in an integrated manner. The fisheries must be protected, and shared oversight of the Mediterranean is essential regardless of whether it is about the countries of the European Union or not,˝ said Šuica.
