Today, Member of the Committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety of the European Parliament Dubravka Šuica participated in a plenary session in the discussion in advance of the climate change conference which will be held in Warsaw from 11 – 22 November 2013. The conference in Warsaw will be held as a prelude to the conference on climate change in Paris in 2015, at which the new treaty on climate change that will be a kind of substitute well-known Kyoto agreement will be adopted. This treaty was already signed by the Croatian Parliament 27 April 2007.
˝As a representative of the Council of Europe, I participated in a conference on climate change in Copenhagen in 2009, which we know has not brought about an improvement over the previous period, when we are talking about protecting the environment. Everybody must fulfil their obligations, foremost the heads of government and all local and regional leaders. When we talk about climate change and environmental protection, we can talk about the protection of human rights, although at first glance does not seem so˝, said Šuica. ˝The European Union was once at the forefront of the issue of environmental protection and was a role model to all, and what is the EU doing on this issue today?˝, said Šuica.
