Member of the European Parliament Dubravka Šuica participated in a discussion at the plenary session in Strasbourg on 22 October 2013 - ˝Let’s not think only about the fish, but about the fishermen, too.˝
Dubravka Šuica joined the debate, stating that she supports the common fisheries policy and the principles of sustainable fisheries. ˝The fact is that this is about the taxpayers' money that we need to manage responsibly. The fisheries sector must be competitive, and that is why should not build new ships this money.˝
˝In the case of Croatia, where I am from, from the Croatian coast and the Adriatic Sea, I certainly support aquaculture and I do not agree with the provision that talks about protected areas,˝ said Šuica.
˝We need to talk about a controlled aquaculture, since this is about stable employment, safe food, good management of the impact on the environment, innovation, and these are all pillars of an aquaculture industry that is able to show growth and that is able to affect the deficit fish,˝ stressed Šuica.
