During a speech at the plenary session, Head of the Croatian EPP Delegation in the European Parliament Dubravka Šuica referred to the events that took place in recent weeks on the borders of the European Union, or Croatia.
"I want to underline a few things here that are happening in our immediate neighborhood. Not only Croatia should be concerned about the behavior of Serbia in relation to Russia, there is also veiled disapproval of many diplomats because of Putin's recent visit to Belgrade, as well as the military parade prepared in his honour, but also because of Serbian and Russian special forces military exercises near the Croatian border, which is not only the state border of the Republic of Croatian, but also the external border of NATO and the EU. Therefore, we could speak of a provocation," said Šuica.
In the conclusion of her speech MEP Šuica pointed out: "We were not impressed with the latest events such as the release of Šešelj, the accused wat criminal, by the International Court in The Hague, nor by the statement of Minister Dačići that Serbia must gain access to the sea. If relations between Russia and the West world worsen, Serbia will have to come out of their neutral stance and will have to choose a side as a candidate country for accession to the EU, while the Union will no longer be allowed to remain silent if we really want enlargement in Southeast Europe," concluded Šuica.
