Upon the invitation of MEP Dubravka Šuica, representatives of HVIDR (Association of Croatian War Veterans) and two veterans of the Fourth Brigade arrived on a visit to the European Parliament, NATO and Belgian capital of Brussels. The Presidency of HVIDR and presidents of county organizations, led by the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for War Veterans and national Member of Parliament Josip Đakić, visited the European Parliament in Strasbourg in November 2013, when Šuica announced a follow-up visit to Brussels in order to fully introduce the group to the work of the EP.
Logically, the first stop of the veterans was the seat of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), where the war veterans were received by Croatian Ambassador to NATO Boris Grigić, while the veterans were greeted by Croatian Members of European Parliament in the EP, where they presented decision-making in the EU in more detail.
The formal seat of the European Parliament is in Strasbourg, where in accordance with the provisions of the Treaty of Amsterdam, plenary sessions are held once a month. Throughout most of the month, legislative action, committee meetings, delegations, as well as mini-plenary sessions take place in Brussels, while it is interesting to note that the Secretariat of the European Parliament is located in Luxembourg.
