During the meeting of the EPP Working Group for Foreign Affairs, Member of European Parliament Plenković, along with support from the Head of the Croatian EPP Delegation Member of European Parliament Dubravka Šuica and MEP Davor Ivo Stier, received the support of the largest caucus in the EP - the EPP - and based on Art. 135, that a draft resolution "Serbia: the case of indicted war criminal Šešelj" be placed on the agenda of the plenary session in Strasbourg, from 24 to 27 November, due to the unacceptable behavior and belligerent rhetoric of indicted war criminal Vojislav Šešelj after his provisional release.
During today's conference of caucus chairmen, the proposal by the EPP caucus which was supported by all Croatian MEPs, was accepted and the resolution ''Serbia: the case of indicted war criminal Šešelj'' was officially included on the agenda of the plenary session. After the decision of the Trial Chamber of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia on Šešelj's provisional release, the goal of this emergency resolution is to condemn the behavior and rhetoric of this indicted war criminal.
In this way, the European Parliament will clearly oppose Šešelj's statements that indicate a violation of the rule of law, claims to the territories of other states and advocating the project of "Greater Serbia" - including Croatia, a member of the EU, as well as undermining stability and cooperation among the countries in the region. The inclusion the proposal of this emergency resolution on the agenda of the European Parliament is an excellent political success, considering that up to three proposals for emergency solutions can be found on the agenda of the plenary session.
