Dubrovnik MEP's Together for Pelješac Bridge!

MEPs from Dubrovnik-Neretva County Dubravka Šuica, Ruža Tomašić and Oleg Valjalo will meet with European Commissioner for Regional Policy Johannes Hahn on 10 September 2013.

˝The Pelješac Bridge is in the common interest of all of us in Croatia, but also it is in the common interest of all EU countries because it ensures territorial continuity in Croatia and the EU. It is the task of all the members of the European Parliament from the Croatia, especially those of us from Dubrovnik, to make the relevant European institutions aware of the issue of geographic and infrastructural isolation that would be resolved with the completion of construction of the Pelješac Bridge˝, said Dubravka Šuica, MEP from Croatia, announcing a meeting with Hahn.

˝Continuing the completion of construction of the Pelješac Bridge and initiatives for the Dubrovnik area to have the status of an independent regional unit are among the strategic objectives of my active participation as a member of the European Parliament and I, together with my colleagues, will use all possible resources so that this project, as well as the continued construction of the Adriatic-Ionian corridor, are realized. We will continue to actively lobby for and monitor the work of the European Commission in order to reach an optimal solution for the south of Croatian˝, said Suica.

In a letter sent to Commissioner Hahn, Šuica emphasized the importance of the consensus on the issue of Pelješac Bridge which has been reached at the local level and introduced him to the extent to which Dubrovnik contributes to the Republic of Croatia economically, culturally and geographically. Opportunities for the development of Dubrovnik and the Dubrovnik area are drastically limited due to territorial incoherence that would only be adequately solved by the completion of the Pelješac Bridge.
